About Us

The vision of NNASA  was born a number of years ago and was rekindled after I attended the 5th international Neonatal Nurses Conference in Ottawa Canada in 2005.There was an overwhelming concern for Africa expressed by all present and an international organisation COINN (Council of International Neonatal Nurses) was formed to try and aid communication between national neonatal groups and particularly to assist developing nations.

Founded in February 2007, The Neonatal Nurses Association of South Africa is hoping to improve neonatal care in our region despite the huge difficulties we face. We are hoping and praying that people will continue to join us, as there is strength in numbers and there is so obviously a desperate need for help and encouragement amongst all neonatal nurses.

Our committee has expanded and now consists of many leading and influential neonatal nurses from around the country who are dedicated to the development of evidence based practice guidelines, in service training, the development of a national neonatal nurse training program and the support and encouragement of nurses caring for newborns in all settings. We as a team would like to encourage you all to share your thoughts, problems, insights, strengths, weaknesses, ideas and solutions with us.

Together we can reach for the Stars!
