- Abstracts will not be accepted after the submission deadline date.
- When an abstract is accepted the presenter must register and pay with in 30 days for the presentation to be included in the programme.
- All abstracts must be written in English.
- All abstracts must be submitted online. Click here to submit your abstract.
- Written abstracts sent by fax or post will not be considered. Typed abstracts sent via fax or email will be considered only by prior arrangement with the Scientific Committee. Please contact sarah@confco.co.za
- It is the author’s responsibility to submit a correct abstract. Any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific fact will be reproduced as submitted by the author.
- The text should not exceed 300 Words
The text of the abstract should briefly state:
- Objectives: Indicate the aim or purpose of the study or the hypothesis that was tested.
- Methodology: Include the setting for the study, the participants, description of intervention, and the method of data collection and analysis. For studies of a qualitative nature include reference to the theoretical framework if relevant. If references are needed, they should be provided in the text.
- Results: Present as clearly as possible the outcome of the study. No tables or graphs to be included
- Conclusions: Briefly discuss the overall study and the implications for practice and/ or further research.
All abstracts should disclose primary findings and avoid, whenever possible, promissory statements such as "experiments are in progress" or "results will be discussed”.
Abstract topics
The abstract topics are the general heading under which abstracts will be
submitted and reviewed.
1. Clinical
- "Asking the Right Question" – Implementing the latest evidence into practice, choosing research topics, interpreting the evidence.
- "In the baby’s best interest" – Case Management of difficult clinical / ethical problems
- "The Heart of Management" – holistic management of baby and family and health team
2. The Global Perspective
- "Meeting the millennium goals" – international experiences and programmes.
- "Getting the Mix Right" – Workforce issues - recruitment and retention, workplace culture, models of care and collaboration.
- "Learning in Context" – preparation, competencies, orientation, preceptors, outreach programmes and graduate programmes.
Notification of acceptance
Notification of provisional acceptance will be sent to the corresponding author
by April 2010. Please note that only the corresponding author will receive this
email concerning the abstract and is responsible for informing all co-authors of
the status of the abstract. Authors whose abstracts have been accepted will
receive instructions for the presentation of their abstract.
ICNN 2010 welcomes the submission of abstracts for original contribution to the
field. All abstracts submitted will go through a blind, peer-review process
carried out by an international review panel. All accepted abstracts will appear
in their full form in the abstract book, which will be on the abstract CD-ROM,
which will be available at the conference.
